ALSO SEE-www.healthfreedom.net Body-Mind Connection From Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia-The biopsychosocial model of medicine, is a way of looking
at the mind and body of a patient as two important systems that are
interlinked. The biopsychosocial model is also a technical term
for the popular concept of the mind-body connection. In this model
a person is getting better if they feel and function better. The
progress of the disease itself is much less important. This is in
contrast to the traditional biomedical model of medicine, where the
primary interest is in the progress of the disease. The
model was first proposed by psychiatrist George Engel in a 1977 article
in Science. David Thatcher M.D,Phd.
Surgeon General of the United States-The modern view that many factors
interact to produce disease may be attributed to the seminal work of
George Engel, who in 1977 put forward the Biopsychosocial Model of
disease. According to Engel's model biopsychosocial factors are
involved in the causes, manifestation, course, and outcome of health and
disease, including mental disorders. This model certainly fits
with common experience.
Many mental illnesses have traditionally been regarded as psychological
problems. More recently, they have been regarded as illnesses that
respond to psychiatric treatments (many do). However, the underlying
cause of many mental illnesses are nutritional and they do respond to
nutritional, herbal, and homeopathic medicine. For example,
hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, is a factor in most drug addictions and
can also be a factor in depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
This can be easily corrected through diet It has been documented
that food allergies are an important factor in 80 percent of all cases
of hyperactivity and other forms of mental illness. Food allergies
can be identified through a blood test or an elimination diet.
Houston water and the environment generally is high in lead. This
can contribute to mental illness especially in children. This can
be identified through a simple urine test. Houston had a
very effective Homeopathic psychiatric hospital in the early 1900's.
I do homeopathic prescribing. I am one of the few state licensed
psychotherapists (licensed clinical social worker) who is registered and
certified as a Naturopathic Doctor with the federal government. I
also have a strong science background. I am a certified chemistry,
physics, and general science teacher (not active). I can be

Depression Treated With Biomedicine
Many women who are anxious and depressed are so because of changing
hormonal levels, a problem which is frequently dismissed by conventional
physicians as a nervous disorder. Depression is treated by psychiatrists
through a class of drugs called serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They work
by stopping the brain from losing further serotonin, the key chemical
that controls mood. However, natural products, including herbal and
amino acid preparations, are serotonin builders, giving the brain the
material to produce new serotonin.
For female hormonal balance, natural progesterone cream is excellent. To
be of any value, a progesterone cream must contain 900 mg. of
progesterone for 2 ounces. Natural progesterone is made from the wild
yam. It is called natural because it is biologically a perfect match for
the estrogen and progesterone in a woman’s body. 5- Hydroxytryptophan has
been found to be frequently effective in intermediate depression. St.
John’s Wort has been found to be frequently effective in moderate
depressions. Hormonal imbalances can easily be identified through
laboratory testing.
