How does Agaricus Blazei work?

Agaricus Blazei is a medicinal mushroom cultivated in Brazil.

Agaricus Blazei is a polysaccharide, known immune system stimulators. It has been shown to stimulate both interferon and interleukin, which are potent in fighting off cancer cell metastasis. Other studies have demonstrated that polysaccharides present in Agaricus extract caused activation of macrophages or Natural Killer Cells and induced catatonic T-lymphocyte activity in tumor bearing mice.

Animal studies have shown that Agaricus Blazei has anti- carcinogenic properties. Specifically, a major component of Agaricus, ergo sterol, was found to inhibit tumor growth in mice via direct inhibition of tumor-induced angiogenesis.
